Here are the steps for switching:

• Domain Name Server Setup

  Follow the instructions on Domain Name Server Setup. If your domain is registered with your old web host, you will have to transfer your domain to either Silkroad Consulting or another third-party domain registrar.

• E-mail Backup and Transfer

  There are a few ways to store e-mails. Some people store them remotely on their web host, while others store them locally on their computer. If you store your e-mails on your old web host and want to continue doing so, you will need to request a backup copy of your e-mail archive from your old web host. If your e-mail archive is too large, try to delete or download (and then delete) your old e-mails. After you have obtained a backup copy of your e-mail archive, contact us to transfer it. We will be able to transfer some types of e-mail archives if they do not exceed your space quota and if they are compatible with our e-mail system.

• Upload Files and Databases

  Request a backup copy of your web files and databases from your old web host. Upload them to your account at Silkroad Consulting.

• Test Your Website and E-mail

  Check your website and e-mail to make sure that everything is still working.
